October
03, 2005 - Seven Seas,
a global provider of
end-to-end ICT solutions
for the Hospitality
Industry, and Stamford
College Berhad has signed
an Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) to include momentohs®
as part of the College's
hospitality education
curriculum. The state
of the art property
management software
will provide excellent
(ICT) skills, knowledge
and application to the
Stamford School of Hospitality
and Tourism Management.
Hoteliers worldwide,
from small boutique
to three/four star as
well as five star are
investing in ICT to
improve operational
efficiency and enhance
the guest experience,
and this initiative
will fill the gap and
provide a more informed
and knowledge personnel
graduating from Stamford
for both Malaysia and
overseas.
The
travel industry worldwide
has sustained considerable
growth over the past
few years and will continue
on an up trend as leisure
activities increase
in the global village.
The demand for knowledge
personnel with proficiency
in ICT are a pre-requisite
with employers and Stamford
College has taken a
bold step in differentiating
from other educational
institutes in realising
this vision. By including
ICT as a standard module
in its curriculum across
all its state of the
art centers in Malaysia,
it sets a benchmark
for all hospitality
schools to follow in
providing quality and
innovative ICT education.
Seven
Seas with its flagship
software, momentohs®,
which consists of 12
modules is an innovative
end-to-end hospitality
solution that provides
the students a learning
experience with a total
integrated feel. It
is the guest centric
advantage that allows
hotels to understand
their guest preferences,
behavior and spending
patterns, which distinguish
the hotel with small
number of rooms with
high yield against the
larger property.
"Students
of Stamford will also
benefit much from this
strategic alliance as
they would be able to
understand more in-depth
about practical ICT
applications in the
industry besides the
knowledge sharing and
joint research in innovating
new features and benefits.
Student will also be
able to tap on Seven
Seas customer database
for work placements
where arrangements exist
after graduation," said
Dato Halim bin Hj. Abdul
Samad, Executive Chairman
of Stamford College
Stamford
College hospitality
management students
will soon be able to
fill the shortage for
knowledge workers that
Hoteliers worldwide
are facing. Stamford
College has been the
pioneer in Hospitality
education for almost
30 years and the exclusive
hospitality education
provider in Malaysia
for the internationally
renowned Educational
Institute of the American
Hotel and Lodging Association
(AHLA).
"
The AHLA, as it is more
popularly, known is
the premier and largest
source for hospitality
education, training
and certification in
the world. Our arrangements
with the AHLA allows
Stamford College to
offer exactly the same
education, training
and professional certification
to the industry locally.
Besides the hospitality
management diploma that
is offered on a full
time basis and distance
learning, individuals
in the industry will
soon be able to acquire
professional certification
in every department
of a hotel. This professional
certification is the
ultimate distinction
of professional excellence
for the hospitality
industry worldwide,
" Dato Halim added.
"Stamford
College was chosen due
its rich tradition in
hospitality education
and its balanced geographical
distribution of their
learning centers around
Malaysia. With this,
we can extend the hospitality
ICT education to a much
bigger focused group.
This would also enable
both companies to develop
reciprocal and joint
activities that harness
each other's strengths",
said Mehboob Hamza,
Chairman, Seven Seas.
"Seven
Seas had also initiated
inter-Government working
engagements to strengthen
ties between countries
to encourage co-operation
towards growth in tourism.
An example is the joint
collaboration with Hanoi
Tourism College (HTC)
in Vietnam, which is
managed by Vietnam National
Administration of Tourism.
The understanding with
HTC is beyond ICT and
encompasses a wider
scope of assistance
in ensuring the growth
of tourism as well as
developing a signature
service culture unique
to Vietnam," added Mehboob
Hamza.
